Kindly consider transparent brainstorming workshop sessions.Ganges has been a holy river because of its selfclensing properties and it must be restored to its old glory. If I were to decide, I will first ensure that it should be our FIRST MISSION to minimise the vectors of unplanned and less governed/ regulated Development that impact Ganges water adversely....Regulation/Policy measures and relocation of Pollution causing vectors with need investment support so that only well treated water is allowed to enter the river or ground water acquifers connected to it.Second point is the increased load of pollutants caused by multifold number of persons who use the River at ghats...So each Ghat has to be well supported with customised technological and design interventions to minimise pollutants in localised stretches without inconveniencing the users or hurting their religious beliefs..Third part is immediately stopping entry of untreated waste water, untreated effluentys and sewerage or even first few surface run offs by rain showers bringing huge quantity of pollutants into the river system (including its tributories) It is simply done by Interception of Nullahs and Drains and collection of Polluted waters into the Garland sewers along the banks of Rivers/Tributories and pumped/ Vacume sucked transport to the STPs whose tertiary water is used for agriculture/ irrigation .. The fourth point is ensuring the augmenting the river and its tributories to ensure minimum flows... and the Fifth point is Operational vigilence to enforce the descipline on ULBs and Industry and Users at Ghats (supported by Trusted and operational management of solid waste collection and disposal with proper treatment. NAMAME GANGE can not be a test bed for Pilot Experiments unless there is no proven interventyion or a well debated choice of a technological intervention. Expectation of Public is huge and any shortcuts shall be countyer productive and failures and wrong doings shall sure get loss of trust.Like Japnese, let us brainstorm, debate, plan it minutely for each step and then leave the implementation to a consortium of companies, each doing its promised bit of work/ technology....It can not be just one player and one stretch..a wholistic approach and work opportunity for all in the pool can be a better approach but what to do or attempt must be analysed in a very transparent manner...
